Some rooms have wonderful views of the lake and fells, with rooms available in the hotel's main house and in Bank House, which is situated one mile (1.6 km) further along the lakeshore. The hotel was where the term country house hotel' was first coined and where the famous British dish, sticky toffee pudding, was invented. The restaurant has held a Michelin star for over a decade and offers superb British cuisine and carefully chosen fine wines. A full English breakfast is available each day.
