This magnificent Victorian building is the former residence of Sir William Gilbert, the writing half of the Gilbert and Sullivan partnership. The hotel and grounds have been used as a backdrop for many famous feature films and TV programmes. Surrounding Grim's Dyke Hotel are beautiful woodlands and formal gardens. Close by you will find a croquet lawn along with the kitchen gardens, beehives and Victorian greenhouses that supply the restaurant. If you venture further into the woods you can find the now empty boating lake, surrounded by flowers.
