This smoke - free hotel is a 3 - storey, purpose - built Victorian hotel, built in 1873 by Sir Edmund Buckley, the man responsible for bringing the railways to this part of Wales. It is a grade 2 listed building, reputedly the oldest reinforced concrete building in Europe, and the 2nd oldest in the world.
